February Tree: Willow

Hey Reader,

Imbolc is upon us. It means "in the belly" in Irish and is one of the sacred cross-quarter festivals in the Celtic Wheel of the Year.

It's the mid-point between winter and spring! The re-birth of the sun is coming!

Imbolc is a time to hear the rumblings and quickenings within you.

What is ready to stir inside you?

Imbolc was a time of honouring the Goddess Brigid. Brigid is a very important figure in prechristian Ireland - so much so that she became a cannonized Saint in Christianity... I guess they couldn't colonize her so they cannonized her.. LOL. Go Bride!!

Make your own honour to Brigid and craft a protective symbol of the Goddess (I made a mini video course below for you).

The Willow Tree

The steady, balancing, quiet leadership of willow tree.

In Caitlin Mathews' book Celtic Wisdom Sticks. she says of Willow -- the Willow consistently shows up for one to accept circumstances as they are, and to move forward.

The Willow is associated with change, moon, and water. By extension, she is then associated with the changing tides, the ancestors, and the dead.

What tides are changing within you?

Willow acts as a bridge to the Otherworld and is an aid in creating relationships with those things that are found on the other side.

Willow // Saille may be sending us messages from the ancestors, through the voice of falling water or through song or music. This message may simply be suggesting “a need to connect with or listen to the ancestors or to honour them in some way.”

Aligning with the full moon, Imbolc and nature:

Go out and look at the full moon tonight.

Craft a protective sigil of Brigid's Cross.

Hang a white cloth out overnight to be blessed by Goddess Brigid herself.

Honour Willow Tree as water falls or music is sung. There is a message within from your ancestors.

Feel the tide that stirs within you.
