June Tree: Hazel

In the Celtic Ogam (the Irish tree language), Hazel tree is in its time. Ogam is a bit like the astrological calendar but with earth-based trees instead of faraway planets.

STORYTIME: Celtic but make it queer~​
​Long ago there was a...

...Well of wise water, surrounded by 9 hazel trees.

The well had 9 salmon living in its depths.

Summer came and the trees surrounding the well bore fruit - their hazelnuts were so beautiful. Just to look at them was a treat for the eyes and a solace to the soul.

It was said that all the wisdom of the universe lived in these hazelnuts.

Anyone who ate them would suddenly have all the insight they needed to overcome any obstacle life would throw at them.

The winds were in the air and the hazel trees danced in the wind - one gust shook them so hard that the fruits fell down into the water.

Before long, the 9 salmon that no one had ever seen rose up from the depths and jumped in the air to catch the falling nuts.

The 9 wise salmon gobbled the hazelnuts up.

Whoever was to eat the salmon would gain the world's wisdom.

A young trans boy by the name of Fynn (they/him) was living with their wicked step-parents who ordered him around and Fynn had to cook for them every night. All Fynn wanted to do was to be a drag star and sing the tales of his trans ancestors to everyone in the world.

Although Fynn was often a visitor to the well, their fishing adventures never turned up anything. This one day though, Fynn was fishing at the well of wisdom under the Hazels of Wisdom.

Because the nuts were falling close to the surface, salmon were closeby. He finally caught a salmon -- who just before, had swallowed a hazelnut, whole!

Fynn's family ordered Fynn at once to cook them a feast with the salmon. Fynn was NOT to eat any of it. The step parents were so filthy rich but they knew that no money could buy them the wisdom of the world. Luck was on their side!!

So, Fynn got to work grilling the salmon.

As it cooked, a piece of the lean fat spattered onto Fynn's thumb - OUCH!

Without thinking - Fynn put their thumb in their mouth to ease the burn from the oil.

But then - Fynn's eyes glowed BRIGHT and suddenly he knew everything in the universe. All the secrets of the universe, all the tall tales and the sweet creations and felt all the love that the Earth had been vibrating at before the times of his evil step parents.

The deep intelligence Fynn gained allowed him to go on to become the most compassionate community leader. They would go on to unite all of the Earth, bring love back to the planet and humanity, and bring healing for all.

This is a story about wisdom and where we seek for it. And often while doing the most mundane opposite thing of searching, that is where we find it.

I hope you enjoyed it. This story has long been passed down through the Druid traditions. I just wanted to make it queer because I have an explicily gay agenda. You're welcome.
