March Tree: Ash

Hey Reader,

There was once upon a time that I would say something along the lines of, "well here we are in March".

But the time for "finding ourselves" almost a quarter of the way through the year is long gone.

The month of March is a time for

ACTION

Yet even as the Earth begins to brighten, we must act with the steadiness and intentionality of the Ash tree.

In the Celtic Ogam (the ancient Irish tree symbology language), Ash tree represents the time of the trickster. Therefore...

• Anything is possible;
  and
• Everything is possible.
  ​- and -
• It was the best of times;
  and
• It was the worst of times.

Last month we S.L.O.W.E.D. to hear the joyful rumblings quickening at the celebration of Imbolc inside of us.

This month, we:

1. Root down into our ashy roots (FYI the roots of the ash grow very very deep)
2. Find balance
3. And continue the work inwardly in order to grow outwardly. To continue to be good stewards of the land, and our bodies, and for our community members.

SIDE QUEST: Forest Bathing in Newfoundland, Canada

Amidst the hustle and bustle -- I went on a side quest and got certified in forest bathing. Honestly, it was fun.

Although I didn't need it. WHY? Because I already have a naturopathic medical degree, an exercise physiology degree, am a recent graduate of the RISE Women & Non-Binary Entrepreneurship and Mental health program, a Bard in the Order of Bards Ovates and Druids (OBOD), and have lived experience as being a gender-expansive human in a world that wants us to fit in neat little boxes.

LEZBEHONEST I've been bathing in forests of science and spirit since the day I was born. Haven't you?

Please don't let these hefty credentials and the mountainous student debt fool you. I am (still) as foolish as they come and down to Earth, on purpose. Was taken by the fairies once. I'll tell you the story another time, as soon as I get out of this fairy circle...
