January Tree: Alder

Hey Reader,

A recent dive into the oracle asked me:

What are you running from?

I was running from a lot of things:

Time. Running out. Before the end of the 2025. A year-in-review that I never did write. Gifts and cleaning and shopping and all the to-do. Business planning for 2026.

Parts of my identity that were yearning for attention. Intention setting practices I wanted to do.

Friendships that had become stagnant with the slow-down of winter. Dinner parties I wanted to host.

I was running, on almost empty.

And you know the age old saying, "you can't pour from an empty cup"?

We all do. But this time, I really took that to heart.

The Alder card was drawn for January.

The steady, balancing, quiet leadership of alder tree.

The heart of alder is strong masculine energy - backbone - a bridge over troubled waters that will bring you back to center, to balance with the feminine energies of me.

And it reminded me of my inner authority. The trust that I could have in my feelings of slowing down, of doing nothing.

Of returning to the middle path.

This time without ego or forcing.

But a gentle knowing that from this center, I can take steps (albeit smaller and perhaps more graceful steps) toward a year where I actually practice what I preach:

Trusting in nature's cycles.

Listening to the signs and symbols of trees, soil, birdsong, and weather.

Working with nature guides and elements directly.

Setting intentions that are true to the values of abundance world.

We are prophecy manifest.

So with those alignments, you can look forward to a lot more nature-related, slow-life content for 2026.

That means events that are more wholesome and meant for connection. Here's what we've got upcoming for the first half of 2026.
